Earthship Belgium vzw

The main purpose of Earthship Belgium vzw is to guarantee a possibility for people to help each other voluntarily and without payment with the realisation of payable, sustainable and self-providing living-space in the form of an Earthship, or Earthship inspired constructions. All this in such a way that this construction and lifespace contributes to the protection and amelioration of the human and natural environment, that fits in well with a sustainable development of society, to meet with the needs of the present generation, without this being at the expence of future generations.

This purpose comprises the following items:

• The realization of earthships or earthships based constructions for public, personal or other purposes in Belgium.
• The further investigation and development of the concept Earthship for better performance, environment-friendlier materials, recycling of materials, local availability of materials, a lower carbon footfrint, closed circuits in the dayly use of earthships, added value to earthships and housing to the restoration of the natural and cultural landscape, and increase of the biodiversity
• The restoration, development and management of the biodiversity, of nature en natural value(s) with the implementation of the concept of inhabited earthships in the area and executed by the residents themselves
• The stimulation of active participation of the residents in restoring, maintenance, development and management of the space inhabited by earthship residents
• A responsible and efficient use of natural resources, space and energy resources while realizing and further using earthships
• The achievement of an excellent quality of the environment in specific regions where inhabited earthships are implemented

Our organization wants to realize these goals by:

• The funding of or cooperating with networks comparable subjects , platforms and ad hoc cooperations
• Cooperation with other organizations with natural or environmental purposes, with universities, governments and umbrella-organizations on local, provincial, Flemish, Wallon and national level
• The international cooperation with sister-organizations and soulmates in other countries
