February 13, 2011 - After a very long period of silence, finally some news about developments around Earthresidence.
Verbeke Foundation has been busy all this time in negotiation with OVAM concerning building with tires. OVAM finally, after at long waiting period, decided not permitting building with tires.According to our understanding there are better alternatives for processing car tires . What these better alternatives are isn't completely clear to us.
Geert Verbeke has now decided to take a different path. He wants to replace the tires by sandbags. This at least preserves the concept of heat storage in the wall. However, instead of reusing tires, newly acquired nylon bags are being used, which boils down to unnecessary waste of resources and energy.
Geert wants to start on a short therm with building and volunteers will be needed. Once we know more details we will post a call-up and registration form will be placed on our site.
