April 30, 2010 - (updated March 3, 2011) - Project Earthresidence, an artwork and an artsist in residence work / living space - Verbeke Foundation & Earthship Belgium vzw.
At the terrain of Verbeke Foundation, 12 acres of nature and art, Geert Verbeke would like to have the artist/architect Francesco Fransera realise an, on a earthships inspired, artwork in close cooperation with Earthship Belgium vzw.
The requirements for the building are that an artist in residence can stay and work there. This means a relatively high room to work. Challenge in the project is to combine the artistic desires and the functionality for the artist, into the building without compromising to the concept of an earthship.
First sketch
In addition, the project has space for experimentation with locally available materials, new techniques and adaptions to our climate. We also asked for the opportunity to do measurements on the temperature build up in the walls and further research into energy and water harvested.
