Cat-Algemeen13th August 2010 – The very recently started Earthship project in Skattungbyn is part of an eco-village and the initiative of Jonas Erlandsson. He and his wife and child will eventually live in the finished Earthship.

Five men (Daan, Willy, Willem, Henk and Ids) and one woman (Maris) formed the enthusiastic Belgian – Dutch building team that traveled to Skattungbyn to construct the walls of Jonas' future living room.

There was almost no rain during our construction week in Skattungbyn. The sun shone while we filled numerous car tyres with sand, hitting them hard with a sledge hammer, so no air was left inside. Every day our wall of tyres grew higher, and every day we managed to fill more than the day before – thanks to efficient preparation. The tyres were arranged according to size, a shed was constructed out of corrugated iron and we sieved rocks and stones from the sand the Swedes dug up. We also made a couple of cement spacer blocks on either side of the tyre wall.
