September 25, 2008 - Be all you can be ... I once heard in a movie which I find a great endeavor. I hope to meet a lot of people in our ecovillage who feel the same.
1. What happened before ...
This is not just a report on the construction of the first earthship in the Benelux. This story is about creating, consciously take control of your own life. This is about determining what is important to you and realizing that desire. It's about realizing your dreams!
A few months ago I realized I wanted to live more sustainable. My house was not suited for this. I flush drinking water in the toilet, in the summer my house gets too hot, too cold in winter and our garden is located on the north. With global warming, I not just wanted a house that is carbon neutral, but one that stores that carbon!
During an Internet search I found the world's most sustainable house, the earthship.
After consultation with my wife, we realized we did not want to live alone. An earthship is just not put in a residential area. We wanted at least ten houses together and then our imagination came in motion: a communal garden, a spiritual center, a natural playground, a swimming pond, a silent forrest, a teahouse, ... Basically it came down to an ecovillage, with earthships and strawbale houses.
Then began the next step of creating. If you create, you need to have thoughts, words and deeds in a line. We already had the idea of an eco-village, then we discussted this with a friend who publishes a spiritual magazine. She wanted to give me a one page for an article. And I did. Then I realized that I had to get a website, because few people know of the existence of earthships. I had to give more information. At the same time I signed up for a workshop earthship building working at the first Dutch earthship. Because then you show with your actions you really want to live up to your dreams.

The article was written, I had made the website and then I let it go, as if I had built a raft and released it. The flow had to do the rest.
