November 29th, 2011 - Lately a lot of time has been invested in research. This has led to a number of new articles on our website.
Research often takes a lot of time over a longer period without much visible result for outsiders. That these articles finally got finished, despite the increased interest accompanied with an increased activity for us, is almost a miracle.
The end is not yet in sight and we hope there is still to arrive at least 1, possible 2 articles, for the years end.

Europe, one of the new articles
The next article to be written will focus on the research done on the performance of the earthships built by Reynolds. To obtain the necessary material for this article needed a very long period of research. It is not easy to get in touch with all earthship owners and other stakeholders, or get their needed information or collect performance issues and common problems.
Moreover, it seems nobody ever examined it, except for Mischa Hewitt of Low Carbon UK. However, he also scans in the dark about a number of projects. By sharing our findings with each other we both at least obtain more clarity.
Therefore we did not succeeded to obtain information on all earthships, but we nevertheless still have a pretty good picture of what is going on. More about this once the article is written.
Permaculture
Since earthships and Permaculture principles go hand in hand we would like to pay some more attention to Permaculture. Along with a self-sufficient house goes a self-sustaining garden.
That is why we like to invite visitors of this website to write an article about Permaculture for publication here.
What would we like to see in such an article:
- A good general explanation of the principles of Permaculture
- Some examples of these principles
- How earthships incooperate into this
- understandable for people with no or little knowledge of Permaculture.
- provided with illustrations that we can publish freely (without violation of copyrights) in the article
- provided with the name of the author
Feel tempted to write such an article, then we would like to reward the effort
Submissions need to be submitted, before December 31th, 2011. The Board will then consider the submissions. All articles that we choose for publication qualify for:
- a free membership 2012 for the author
- publication on the website of Earthship Belgium (in Dutch and English)
- publication on websites of current and future sister organizations (i.e. translation into various languages)
So you have some understanding of Permaculture, would you like to write about it and have a possible chance of publication in various European languages, subscribe here. Choose other and enter in the comments what your plans are. You will then receive a mail address to send the article once it is ready.
