February 7, 2011 - Despite a high notification, ultimately 20 people showed up for the meeting on building elsewhere in Europe.
That figure, however, made it no less interesting for the audience. After a brief explanation about the purpose of the meeting, the plans of those present to build their own earthship in Europe where identified. For one exception in the east (Romania) all plans were most evident in South (France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Crete).
After the inventory was checked to see which countries and what opportunities are probably more difficult. There were also issues discussed in the order to tackle such a project, how do you make the move once you have land and permission. We also looked how we can work together in the quest for opportunities and how Earthship Belgium may be helpful with this quest.

We also discussed the benefits of approaching a project in group and as it were to begin an Earthship community. The premise here is that it should be a practically collaborative community, not based on any spirituality. The idea is more of a group earthships together, each with its own privacy and cooperation in those fields where necessary (eg cereals and grain milling). There would be a community house where things that you only occasionally need such as washing machines, books, etc. can be shared for common use. Furthermore, if you want some company you can go to the community house and if you feel you want to have privacy, you don't.
We had the idea that it was a very fruitful meeting and attendees will hear from us how this can proceed further.
Some reactions of those present we later received by mail:
"It was instructive and encouraging what we have heard and seen during the meeting today. it's good to see that ideas for changing are a live, and we would like to contribute to building .. literally and figuratively. "

"We found it very nice to get together with several people about the same dreams as us and hear how everyone intends to address them."
Maarten en Esther (plans in Italy, S-France of N-Spain)
"A lot became clear(er) than before and we are even more motivated to finally realise our plans. We had a look at the information on Olst/Wijhe instantly, we may do some, rolling up our sleeves there."
